Every seat in the organisation
Luc Smet has held every seat in an organisation. He began his professional life as an RF technician in Belgium in the early 1990s, climbing mobile network pylons and building the country's first GSM infrastructure — doing work he understood at a level no one above him could assess and that no one above him thought to acknowledge. That experience, and the question it left him with, became this book.
From that technical foundation he moved through every stage of commercial leadership across three decades and multiple industries: technical sales, key account management, sales management, country management, managing director and CEO roles, and several assignments as interim crisis CEO brought into organisations facing acute difficulty.
He is currently Chief Operating Officer of The Sauveux Group, a multi-brand commercial group operating across hospitality, food service, and the broader professional services sector. The governance system he has built there — grounded in the principle that every initiative must be visible, owned, and proven before it can be considered real — is a direct application of the frameworks this book describes.
He is mentored by Paul Crick, founder of The Elevate Partnership and a member of Marshall Goldsmith's 100 Coaches Agency.
He lives in Andalucía, Spain, with Vanessa De Wit, a visual artist, healer, and creative visionary, with whom he co-authored Balanced Divinity: Sacred Sexuality, Conscious Union and the Fire of Creation (2025).
The Name
What incremento means
Incremento — the name of this practice — means growth in Spanish. The word chosen to represent it is the Chinese character 长 (zhǎng): growth not as expansion but as the way a flower grows, unfolding from its own nature toward what it is made to become.
The same principle governs the work here. Leaders do not grow by becoming something they are not. They grow by becoming more fully what they already are — more present, more honest, more courageous with the authority they hold.
